 PAW LITTLE MISSY
Missy came into the care of Happy Staffie Rescue in October
after her original owners accommodation situation had changed. Upon inspection at the kennels it was obvious that not all
was right with Missy as she had several lumps on her body so the next day it was off to the vets for a check up.
After a good examination the vet advised
us to have the lumps removed and they were very concerned about a particular lump on her leg. We gave the go ahead to have
the operation immediately and the next day she underwent three hours of surgery to remove a total of eleven lumps and these
were sent off for testing.
On
the way back from the vets although very drowsy she insisted on staying awake to watch the world go by (in the front seat
of the kennel owners car).
On Thursday 29th October 2009 the results from Missy's biopsy arrived; the majority
of her tumours were benign but the larger one in her leg was malignant. The vet is confident that enough of the tumour and
surrounding tissue has been removed to ensure no further spread although, this cannot be guaranteed. The vet has said Missy
has a probable life expectancy of around 70 months.
We have been advised that chemotherapy is not necessary at this time and Missy is not in any pain. We are remaining optimistic at the moment and
are very pleased with Missy's progress.

in April 2010 enough money was donated by our wonderful supporters to cover the cost of this Missys treatment. From the bottom
of our heart we would like to thank everyone that has made a donation and we know that Missy would too if she could. We are now working hard to
find Missy that very special new home where she can get the care and love that she needs.
